In hernia patients the preoperative diagnosis of strangulation is difficult. Personal experience is described on explorative laparoscopy to evaluate the viability of an ileal tract incarcerated in a groin hernia and in the same time to repair hernia defect using Gore-Tex® Dual Mesh Plus with Holes. The conclusion is drawn that at laparoscopy the judgment of the viability of the contents of hernia is similar to that at laparotomy
