Studied the psychometric properties of the Italian version of the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (K. J. van der Zee and J. P. van Oudenhoven, 2000), an instrument designed to measure personality traits linked to successful adaptation in international and multicultural environments. Subjects included 553 male and female university students (mean age 26.55 yrs) in Italy. Cultural empathy, openness, social Initiative, emotional instability, and rigidity were measured. The Five Factor Personality Inventory (A. A. Hendricks et al, 1999) was also used. Factor structure, reliability, and predictive ability relative to indicators of multicultural involvement were determined. Exploratory and confirmatory data analysis methods were used. The results show satisfactory construct validity of the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire dimensions as well as satisfactory predictive ability. The relationship between the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire dimensions and the Big Five Personality dimensions and the ability of personality dimensions to of multi-cultural involvement are discussed
