the aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of articular and muscular pai in patients with surgically or conservatively treated unilateral or bilateral condylar fractures. the Authors show that the alterations deriving from condylar fractures need to be evaluated not only on the basis of the examination of all the element of the stomatognathic apparatus, but also by considering pain and disfuncyional symptoms of TMJ. as well as indirect symptoms such headache or neck pains. Furthermore, they underline the importance of correctly diagnosing of the TMJ modifications induced by a trauma, and or performing clinical and instrumental examinations in both the short and the long term in order to ensure that not all of the changes in the codified control parameters, or direct or indirect symptoms, are automatically attributed to the fractures itself.
