Abstract

Carboxylated polyurethane (PEUA) based on MDI, poly(propylene oxide), and 2,2'-hydroxymethylpropionic acid were synthesized. The effect of temp. on the extension stage of the polymn. reaction as well as that of the concn. of reagents on the mol. wt. of PEUA were investigated by means of gel permeation chromatog. (GPC). The best conditions for obtaining the highest mol. wt. polymer correspond to the chain extension reaction temp. of 50°C and to a polymer concn. of 50% w/v. The obtained polymers have been characterized by 13C-NMR, Fourier transform IR spectroscopy and differential scanning ca...
