In this paper, non-linear dynamic analyses of RC bare and infilled frames are carried out to investigate the effect of horizontal and vertical seismic excitation. Particularly, a comparison with and without the vertical component was performed. Near-fault strong ground motions, with a strong vertical peak ground acceleration, have been adopted for the analyses. The effects on the structural behaviour are evaluated by means of displacement parameters and dissipated energy in addiction to the conventional design parameters.
