Oxidative polymn. of 1,3-diethynylbenzene (I), 1,4-diethynylbenzene (II), and 2,6-diethynylpyridine gave white, yellow, and brown powders, resp., which were insol. in org. solvents and were characterized by elemental anal. and IR spectroscopy. The conductivities of I and II were on the order of 10-15 Ω-1 cm-1, and doping with iodine increased them by ∼10 orders of magnitude.
