A new dimeric diterpenoid, grandione (I), has been isolated from Torreya grandis Fort, and its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic and chem. anal. Grandione is a heptacyclic rearranged abietane-type dimer. Dynamic HPLC (DHPLC) studies showed the presence of a tautomeric equil. in soln. between I and its enolic form Ia.
