ARAMIS project aims at assessing the risk level of an industrial site. To reach this goal, the environment, as a target, must be studied and taken into account. On the base of a multicriteria decision approach (Saaty method), a structured methodology is proposed. In the first step an identification of generic targets is made in order to assess, in a second step, their vulnerability. The expected results are cartographical representations of the index of vulnerability V which represents the vulnerability of an area in the surroundings of an industrial site. This methodology must be implemented into a geographical information system (G.I.S.) in order to devise an operational tool to evaluate the vulnerability for the competent authorities, the industrialist and the risk experts
