In this paper the interaction between the radiofrequency field produced by magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and a pacemaker (PM) implanted inside an accurate anatomical model of the human body is studied. The interaction of the PM catheter with the EM field gives rise to strong local SAR values inside the heart where the catheter tip is fixed. However the SAR values averaged over 10 g remain below the limits reported in the ICNIRP recommendations.

Abstract
In this paper the interaction between the radiofrequency field produced by magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and a pacemaker (PM) implanted inside an accurate anatomical model of the human body is studied. The interaction of the PM catheter with the EM field gives rise to strong local SAR values inside the heart where the catheter tip is fixed. However the SAR values averaged over 10 g remain below the limits reported in the ICNIRP recommendations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
