Abstract
The device discovery, graphical depiction and analysis conducted in the Oval Room of the Academy of Fencing at the Foro Italico in Rome, designed by Luigi Moretti as the input of honor for the athletes, are concentrated in the inner two mosaics, floor of the Oval Office polychrome and the Flight of Icarus located on the north elevation of the former library, Angelo Canevari. The results arising deepen, as well as geometric aspects of the room (oval or elliptical?) And state of preservation, although some particular aspects such as, for example, rethinking the design of the mosaic floor, as in some designs of the project 's archive, which contains two foil fencers, however, are not present in the photograph of the magazine Architecture in 1937. The process of construction of the shape of the room, as emerged from the survey, in comparison of the geometrical method and direct trilaterazioni, detects an absolute contiguity between formal oval and ellipse. The deviations between the two curves can be considered substantially negligible, if only for the fact that the size of the room so modest bear without any difficulty both the processes of construction planimetric.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
