The paper describes the investigation process and the methodological steps oriented to design a methodology capable to provide a quantification of the effects of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) and Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems on railway lines carrying capacity and speed performances. The methodology was tested for the Italian ATP system SCMT (train running control system) overlapped on a single track axle counter equipped line case study.

Abstract
The paper describes the investigation process and the methodological steps oriented to design a methodology capable to provide a quantification of the effects of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) and Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems on railway lines carrying capacity and speed performances. The methodology was tested for the Italian ATP system SCMT (train running control system) overlapped on a single track axle counter equipped line case study.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
