Abstract
In the literature distributed arrays of piezeoelectric patches are employed to actively control structural vibrations. In the present work in order to damp beam vibrations a completely passive electric controller is proposed, exploiting distributed piezoelectric transduction. The optimization of the distributed electric controller is performed analyzing the free wave propagation in the composite smart beam. The proposed controller allows for an optimal attenuation of wave propagation over any frequency range. A prototype of the proposed novel smart structure (Piezo-ElectroMechanical beam) is designed, allowing for appreciating its technical feasibility and effectiveness.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
