An optimization approach is formulated in order to find the layout of a transmission line configuration which minimizes the crosstalk and radiated emission. A system of coupled nonuniform transmission lines is considered as a multiport network, whose parameters are calculated numerically. The voltage transfer functions of the network are used to evaluate the transmission efficiency of each line and the crosstalk between the lines. Moreover a full wave numerical technique permits one to analyze the radiated electromagnetic field. A global optimization technique, simulated annealing, is applied to define the optimum layout which reduces the radiated emission while controlling crosstalk and efficiency of the transmission system

Abstract
