Abstract

This is a fresh evaluation of long-standing problems related to the language of Greek choral lyrics. The article dwells especially on the various theories built around the so-called lenition found in a number of participles attested in choral lyrics, and shows that many conclusions drawn from (pseudo) parallels in the Cyrenaean dialect are misleading.
