A series of penicillinsodiumsalts was analyzed by thermoanalytical techniques (TG, DTG and DSC). The analyses were carried out in an atmosphere of oxygen. The final residue of the thermal decomposition for all the analyzed compounds was always sodium sulphate. The purity of the examined penicillins could therefore be determined by analysis of the sodium percentage present in the compounds. Better results, concerning accuracy and precision were obtained by the addition of ammonium sulphate to the analyzed compounds.

Abstract
A series of penicillinsodiumsalts was analyzed by thermoanalytical techniques (TG, DTG and DSC). The analyses were carried out in an atmosphere of oxygen. The final residue of the thermal decomposition for all the analyzed compounds was always sodium sulphate. The purity of the examined penicillins could therefore be determined by analysis of the sodium percentage present in the compounds. Better results, concerning accuracy and precision were obtained by the addition of ammonium sulphate to the analyzed compounds.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
