For a base driven structure the concept of effective modal mass allows to build a simplified model which represents the most important modes. If a modification had to be performed, the validity of the model could be affected. In this paper it is proposed to use the effective modal made sensitivities to find the best location for a modification which does not change the confidence on the modal model. To obtain those sensitivities a DMAP NASTRAN procedure has been developed. Some numerical examples are reported that show different approaches to the problem.

Abstract
