LARES is the main payload of the VEGA maiden flight and its launch is scheduled at the end of 2009. The satellite belongs to the category of laser ranged satellites. This type of satellites are characterized by high reliability being passive. The external surface is covered with Cube Corner Reflectors (CCRs) that have the capability of sending back to the ground based laser ranging station, laser pulses. The time of flight of the pulses is used to measure with accuracies of few millimeters, distances that go from hundreds of kilometers up to about 380.000 km (lunar based CCRs). In the paper the characteristics and requirements of those CCRs will be described. The techniques to measure the dihedral angle, and surface quality of the CCRs will be also considered.

Abstract
The techniques to measure the dihedral angle, and surface quality of the CCRs will be also considered.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
