In this paper some recent advances in the field of fibre optic smart structures for high temperature applications will be considered. Several embedding techniques for metal alloys and ceramic materials will be described. All the specimens manufactured with the embedded optical fibres have been either used in an interferometer (Michelson or Mach Zehnder) or cut to prepare specimen for micrographic analysis used to verify the fibre/matrix interface. Also a test with a Fibre Bragg Grating embedded into a Zn-Al alloy will be briefly described.

Abstract
In this paper some recent advances in the field of fibre optic smart structures for high temperature applications will be considered. Several embedding techniques for metal alloys and ceramic materials will be described. All the specimens manufactured with the embedded optical fibres have been either used in an interferometer (Michelson or Mach Zehnder) or cut to prepare specimen for micrographic analysis used to verify the fibre/matrix interface. Also a test with a Fibre Bragg Grating embedded into a Zn-Al alloy will be briefly described.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
