The third component of complement has been shown to be involved in a number of biological functions. It acts through interaction with specific receptors or covalent interaction with acceptor sites on cell membranes. The aim of this work is to determine the traffic and the subcellular distribution of C3 in Lewis lung carcinoma (3LL). Cytofluorimetric studies showed that C3 molecules bound to 3LL cells after incubation in normal murine serum decreased from the cell surface and internalized by a time dependent process. This finding was confirmed by electron microscopic investigation.

Abstract
The third component of complement has been shown to be involved in a number of biological functions. It acts through interaction with specific receptors or covalent interaction with acceptor sites on cell membranes. The aim of this work is to determine the traffic and the subcellular distribution of C3 in Lewis lung carcinoma (3LL). Cytofluorimetric studies showed that C3 molecules bound to 3LL cells after incubation in normal murine serum decreased from the cell surface and internalized by a time dependent process. This finding was confirmed by electron microscopic investigation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
