The study of the flow of a gas in long tubes is of special interest for the transport of industrial fluids through pipeline networks. In this paper the problem studied is that of the evolution of acceleration waves (a.w.) until they become shock waves. For the flow models considered we have evaluated the critical time at which this event takes place as a function of the initial discontinuity amplitude.

Abstract
The study of the flow of a gas in long tubes is of special interest for the transport of industrial fluids through pipeline networks. In this paper the problem studied is that of the evolution of acceleration waves (a.w.) until they become shock waves. For the flow models considered we have evaluated the critical time at which this event takes place as a function of the initial discontinuity amplitude.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
