Electrical properties tomography based on magnetic resonance imaging is a non-invasive technique for estimating tissue conductivity and permittivity. To effectively face the underlying nonlinear and ill-posed inverse problem and improve computational efficiency, a novel two-step approach is proposed in this paper. In the first step, the induced current and the internal electric field are retrieved from MRI data via a linear inverse problem. Then, the electrical properties are retrieved through the constitutive relationship between fields and currents. Numerical simulations assess the improved computational effectiveness and inversion robustness of the proposed approach as compared to similar approaches such as contrast source inversion-based electrical properties tomography.
