Background Sulphurous thermal waters (STW) are known for their wound-healing properties, attributed not only to dissolved minerals but also to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), a gas transmitter that diffuses through the skin, exerting local and systemic effects. H₂S promotes healing in acute, chronic, and infected wounds and contributes to eutrophic scarring post healing. The specific microbiome of sulphurous springs may also interact with the skin microbiome, restoring eubiosis and reducing biofilm formation.

Abstract
Background Sulphurous thermal waters (STW) are known for their wound-healing properties, attributed not only to dissolved minerals but also to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), a gas transmitter that diffuses through the skin, exerting local and systemic effects. H₂S promotes healing in acute, chronic, and infected wounds and contributes to eutrophic scarring post healing. The specific microbiome of sulphurous springs may also interact with the skin microbiome, restoring eubiosis and reducing biofilm formation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
