This study analyses monitoring data from the Montedoglio Dam in Central Italy, a zoned earth dam, with the aim of identifying effective methods for interpreting its mechanical and hydraulic behaviour. The research explores vari-ous types of measurements, including deformations, internal displacements of the dam body, pore water pressure, and hydraulic behaviour, to assess the reliability and safety of the structure. Data collected during the construction phase, combined with post-construction monitoring, provide key insights into the dam’s response to variable loads, climatic changes, and consolidation phenomena. This short paper also discusses the primary interpretive methods and the most suitable predictive models for evaluating the dam’s performance, highlighting how proper manage-ment and analysis of monitoring data are essential for improving the design and maintenance of zoned earth dams, ensuring the long-term safety of the structure.

Abstract
This study analyses monitoring data from the Montedoglio Dam in Central Italy, a zoned earth dam, with the aim of identifying effective methods for interpreting its mechanical and hydraulic behaviour. The research explores vari-ous types of measurements, including deformations, internal displacements of the dam body, pore water pressure, and hydraulic behaviour, to assess the reliability and safety of the structure. Data collected during the construction phase, combined with post-construction monitoring, provide key insights into the dam’s response to variable loads, climatic changes, and consolidation phenomena. This short paper also discusses the primary interpretive methods and the most suitable predictive models for evaluating the dam’s performance, highlighting how proper manage-ment and analysis of monitoring data are essential for improving the design and maintenance of zoned earth dams, ensuring the long-term safety of the structure.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
