Dall’oblio alla riscoperta. La tradizione sociologica cristiana in Italia

The article investigates whether Christian sociology can be regarded as an authentic sociological tradition rather than merely an expression of Catholic social doctrine. Through a historical and bibliographical reconstruction of its origins and principal authors within the Italian context, it shows how this tradition developed an autonomous paradigm distinct from both positivism and Marxism. The central hypothesis is that Catholic social thought generated original interpretative categories grounded in relationality, historicity, and integral knowledge. Christian sociology thus emerges as a theoretical tradition capable of combining empirical analysis with reflection on the meaning of social action, offering insights that remain relevant to contemporary sociological debate.
