Continuous pediatric monitoring is vital for safety, yet standard cabled instrumentation hinders clinical workflows and parent-infant bonding. Wearable sensors address these drawbacks, driving a paradigm shift toward healthcare decentralization into living environments. By transitioning care to domestic settings, these connected solutions increase family engagement and fill critical technological gaps. Abstract

Continuous pediatric monitoring is vital for safety, yet standard cabled instrumentation hinders clinical workflows and parent-infant bonding. Wearable sensors address these drawbacks, driving a paradigm shift toward healthcare decentralization into living environments. By transitioning care to domestic settings, these connected solutions increase family engagement and fill critical technological gaps. However, moving beyond clinical boundaries underscores the need for metrological rigor, as literature lacks standardized protocols for validating sensors in uncontrolled contexts. This work reviews the evolution of pediatric wearables, highlighting advantages and bottlenecks while identifying opportunities for future, family-centered healthcare within everyday living environments
