This study investigates the mediating role of family values regarding the use of pornography (FVUP) in the relationship between religiosity and moral disapproval of pornography, as well as the moderating role of pornography use frequency on the association between religiosity and family values. The research sample consisted of 595 individuals from Romania, aged 18–76 years (M = 22.78, SD = 7.33), of whom 72.8% were women. Participants completed measures assessing religiosity, moral disapproval of pornography, FVUP, frequency of pornography use, and socio-demographic information. The findings revealed that FVUP mediated the relationship between religiosity and moral disapproval of pornography, while the frequency of pornography use moderated the relationship between religiosity and FVUP. These results highlight the critical role of pornography use frequency in understanding the interplay between religiosity, moral disapproval of pornography, and family values. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the complex relationships among religiosity, FVUP, and pornography consumption frequency. By exploring how religiosity influences moral disapproval of pornography through family values, these findings offer insights into the psychological and cultural mechanisms shaping moral judgments within specific religious contexts.
