A lexical analysis looking for innovative approaches in the Italian translators of Kavafis in the 21st century ⸻ The hidden poem Στες Σκάλες [On the Stairs], written by K. Kavafis in 1904, presents, in its simplicity, an elaborate formal structure, built on binary oppositions and variations and on the wise use of the lexicon of desire. Through the analysis and the comparison of the lexical and syntactic choices made by its italian translators (F. M. Pontani, N. Crocetti, M. Cazzulo, A. Di Gregorio, P. M. Minucci, R. Lavagnini), it can be observed how, despite the general uniformity of its rendering, the atmosphere of the poem acquires ever-changing nuances thanks to the individual input of the translators, who deal with the text with innovative approaches.

Abstract
A lexical analysis looking for innovative approaches in the Italian translators of Kavafis in the 21st century ⸻ The hidden poem Στες Σκάλες [On the Stairs], written by K. Kavafis in 1904, presents, in its simplicity, an elaborate formal structure, built on binary oppositions and variations and on the wise use of the lexicon of desire. Through the analysis and the comparison of the lexical and syntactic choices made by its italian translators (F. M. Pontani, N. Crocetti, M. Cazzulo, A. Di Gregorio, P. M. Minucci, R. Lavagnini), it can be observed how, despite the general uniformity of its rendering, the atmosphere of the poem acquires ever-changing nuances thanks to the individual input of the translators, who deal with the text with innovative approaches.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
