The order Neogastropoda encompasses >16 000 Recent species of almost exclusively marine carnivorous molluscs that are abundant and ecologically important in benthic communities at all latitudes and depths. A recent phylogeny generally resolved backbone relationships in Neogastropoda, revealing some that are novel and require formal recognition. In the present study, we expand the taxonomic sampling of Fedosov et al. (Phylogenomics of Neogastropoda: the backbone hidden in the bush. Systematic Biology 2024;73:521–31) by almost 6-fold (677 taxa) and analyse the neogastropod relationships based on a dataset of 1094 genomic loci. Although most backbone nodes were constrained in the topology to that obtained by Fedosov et al. (2024), placement of Cancellariidae was addressed specifically, and this family was recovered as a sister group to all other neogastropod taxa, supporting the monophyly of the order. On the contrary, our results reject an earlier hypothesis of sister-group relationship between Neogastropoda and Tonnoidea. The unprecedented taxonomic coverage of our dataset allows us to assess, for the first time, relationships of many previously poorly understood neogastropod taxa and to propose a new family-level classification of the order. We reinstate Cancellarioidea and newly rank Volutomitroidea, Costellarioidea, and Harpoidea as superfamilies. As a result, within Neogastropoda, we recognize 11 extant superfamilies including 64 families, with the two families Babyloniidae and Strepsiduridae treated as incertae sedis. Within Volutoidea, we treat Granulinidae as a subfamily of Marginellidae. We describe Enigmavasidae fam. nov. within Costellarioidea and Triumphidae fam. nov. within Buccinoidea, whereas the former-nassariid subfamily Cylleninae and the former-buccinid subfamily Liomesinae are raised to full family rank. We describe Eumitrinae subfam. nov. within Mitridae, in addition to Antiplanidae fam. nov. and Pagodaturridae fam. nov. within Conoidea.
