Stratigrafia di un manoscritto: il Par. lat. 7505 come testimone di quattro secoli di tradizione dell’Ars di Prisciano (con un inedito commento tardoantico)

The Par. lat. 7505 ms (Tours, early 9th century) is one of the earliest witnesses to the Carolingian textual tradition of Priscian of Caesarea’s Ars Grammatica (siglum p). It contains a substantial set of marginal and interlinear notes and corrections added by multiple hands between the 9th and early 10th centuries. A combined paleographic and philological analysis of both the main text and these secondary interventions reveals three distinct layers in the transmission of Priscian’s work within a single codex: from its initial reception within the grammarian’s own school, to the scholarly reforms promoted by Alcuin at the dawn of the Carolingian era, and finally to the study of Greek cultivated among Irish learned circles on the Continent in the second half of the 9th century.
