Le jeune Foucault et les transformations kantiennes de la métaphysique

This article examines the young Foucault’s understanding of the relationship between anthropology and metaphysics. After recalling the polymorphous role of anthropology in Kant, it focuses on Heidegger’s influence. Like Heidegger, Foucault sees anthropology as dependent on the regime of finitude established by Kant. Any attempt to uncover an ontological foundation, however, merely reproduces the metaphysical illusion. In a radicalization of phenomenology, Foucault’s analysis of Geist reveals that the conditions of truth are always historical.
