This contribution is an extract from the poster presented at the 11th edition of the SSDA, held in Rome from 19 to 21 February 2024. The poster outlines the object of my PhD research: the study and documentation of water systems in the central and eastern Mediterranean. The research examines these systems in relation to different palaeoenvironmental contexts and to the strategies adopted by ancient communities from the Neolithic Period to the Iron Age (8500-535 BC). A particular focus is given to the analysis of changing palaeoclimatic and hydrogeological conditions, as well as the methods of water collection, storage, and distribution. The project will examine marine transgressions and the interaction between fresh and salt water. The final aim of this research is to identify possible solutions for the protection and preservation of the monuments concerned
