Il conflitto misconosciuto degli anni Settanta

During the Seventies, in addition to the conflict over the political regime, another one over citizenship also emerged in Italy. It consisted of a demand for recognition of the autonomy and dignity of ordinary citizens in common life and for placing the material dimension of democracy at the core of the public agenda. The article deals with this second, hidden conflict, its main features, its developments and its misrecognition by the political leaderships, as well as with its long-term impact on Italian democracy.
