In recent years, higher productivity of European agriculture has shown a slowdown and environmental challenges have intensified. Several factors have affected this evolution and their interaction has led to a complex reality. The aim of this paper is to analyse all the reasons that may have contributed to the reduction of productivity of EU agriculture, using the currently available different indicators. The findings in this paper are limited by the nature and quality of the available indicators. For this reason, this paper provides a qualitative analysis of the information deducible from the various kinds of indicators used.

Abstract

In recent years, higher productivity of European agriculture has shown a slowdown and environmental challenges have intensified. Several factors have affected this evolution and their interaction has led to a complex reality.
