EU Funding in Times of Geopolitical Turbulence. A Constitutional Laboratory

We reflected on the current and future trajectories of EU funding against a backdrop of geopolitical turbulence, with a special attention on post-pandemic developments and the ongoing negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework. We are grateful to all the authors involved – including Claudia Cinnirella, Filippo Croci, Moritz Rehm and Marc Steiert – for such a rich collection touching upon critical issues on the present and future of EU funding. The contributions explore topics ranging from solidarity via the EU budget and the (retreat from the) EU budget's social legacy, to EU common borrowing, the reform of own resources, defence financing, and fundamental rights conditionalities. A special thanks also to the Editors of the Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law for making this Special Issue possible and for a wonderful publication experience.
