This essay analyses the theoretical frameworks and the distinctive nature of Damisch’s thinking regarding the relationship between the cloud as an object and perspective. By reviewing the connection with Francastel’s studies, Damisch’s early essays and his later works, the text examines the dialectical link established by the scholar between the geometric order of Renaissance perspective and the formless element of the cloud. This line of thought becomes a fundamental critical tool for analysing contemporary architecture, ranging from structures made of mist and vapour—such as Diller and Scofidio’s Blur Building—to Massimiliano Fuksas’s New Congress Centre in Rome-EUR. The relationship that the sinuous, formless structure of Fuksas’s ‘Nuvola’ establishes with the strictly rationalist and Euclidean shell that contains it serves as the perfect confirmation of the dialectical relationship identified by Damisch.

Abstract
The relationship that the sinuous, formless structure of Fuksas’s ‘Nuvola’ establishes with the strictly rationalist and Euclidean shell that contains it serves as the perfect confirmation of the dialectical relationship identified by Damisch.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
