This essay analyses the historical and religious topics related to the introduction of Pax in the Roman pantheon. It reflects on political events, ideological models and iconographic choices to explain the importance assumed by the goddess and her role. Something can be noted as a telling fact: Pax was included, among the Virtutes, in the moment of crisis that heralds the end of Republic; than has been valued in the Augustan age. However, she seems not to have an autonomous religious space (aedes) until the Flavian dedication. As essential to understand the features of the goddess and the meanings of her cult, also in relation to the self-celebration of the Emperors and their politics, the coin type of Pax, namely during the Flavian period, is briefly analysed in a regional targeted perspective.
