Nuove marginalità: il discreto come spazio potenziale.

The discrete is a complex spatial-cultural condition, alternative but complementary to the continuous space of traditional planning. Marginal places, exceptions where spontaneous and informal practices germinate, challenging the norms that regulate the use of space and configuring new creative uses. The La Friche la Belle de Mai project is presented as an emblematic type of discrete space: a “third place”, an intermediate, inclusive and self-managed collective space whose design, combining spontaneity and spatial hybridisation, becomes a tool for redeveloping a deteriorating urban fabric.
