The archaeological and multidisciplinary research that the Project (Missione Archeologica della Sapienza nella Penisola Arabica e nel Golfo) is leading in the Sultanate of Oman is exploring the archaeological and natural landscape of the region of Wadi al-Maʻawil, which is situated in the South Batinah, at the level of the Tropic of Cancer. This landscape contains funerary features dating back to the Early Bronze Age till the Islamic era, passing through the Middle Bronze Age or Wadi Suq period and the Iron Age. The finds lead us to believe that this region had workshops for metalworking. Additionally, the funerary finds reflect not only the costumes of the people at the time but also their connections with other regions, such as Mesopotamia.
