his article examines the reception of Mercè Rodoreda’s La plaça del Diamant (1962) in Italy from ideological and cultural-critical perspectives between 1970 and 2010, through a comparative analysis of the three Italian translations of the novel. Within this temporal framework, I identify three distinct “Rodoreda moments”, corresponding to the publication dates of the Italian editions (1970, 1990, 2008), as previously noted by Cèlia Nadal Pasqual (2023). In the article, I reconsidered these moments to trace how ideological dynamics have contributed to redefining Rodoreda’s position within the Italian literary.
