Introduction to the special issue of "Critical Hermeneutics" entitled "Narrative Identity, Memory, and Narrative Therapy". The article examines the extent to which Paul Ricoeur’s philosophical account of narrative identity — which constitutes the principal theoretical framework of the issue — may contribute to elucidating the therapeutic efficacy of narrative practices for patients whose memory is compromised by neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. This problem also lay at the core of the PRIN PNRR research project "Aesthetics and Therapeia".
