In order to investigate the complex relationship between canon and emotions in the transition from the classical world to the Middle Ages, we have chosen to start with one of the authors par excellence of the Roman world: Ovid, and in particular Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Specifically, this contribution focuses on the emotional geography present in the story of Procne and Philomela (Metamorphoses VI) and then on its Romance rewriting, placing particular emphasis on the relationship between furor and will.
