The contribution fits into the context of the research of PRIN MIND - The Mountains within the Mountains - Narratives, dynamics and development paths in the Italian mountains: new readings. In this context, the unit of the University of Rome, one of the 5 research units into which the PRIN is divided, has activated participa-tory laboratories in the Apennine context with the aim of analyzing and assisting, with qualified local development operators, the implementation of ‘project community’ experiences, which define a collective and collaborative operating mode. In June 2023 the Roman unit with the Maiella Verde LAG participated in the experiential phase of the Laboratory in the Frentani Mountains, encouraging meetings between researchers, development actors, communities and places. The aim of the paper is to analyse the idea to build some cycle paths in the Frentani Mountains as a tool of development. This strategy would like to be an instrument to prevent the depopulation, the margin-ality and the fragility of the inner area through the connection between agriculture and tourism. For doing this we present a field work activity, conducted by e-bike along one of the projected itineraries, in three phases: a) an in-depth analysis of the context, b) a critical observation of the pretended practice of landscape through the design/idea-tion of a slow mobility routes involving strategies of participation and transformation of the landscape and mobility, c) Using our experience we tried to discuss the possi-ble relationship between sustainable tourism purposes and everyday life in inner areas. The analysis of this development strategy leaves some open questions in relation to the development models. The paradigm through which the ‘project communities’ are imagined and implemented should be put in relation to the new dynamics that seek to respond to new needs dictated by climate change, economic/pandemic crises and technological innovation.

Abstract
The paradigm through which the ‘project communities’ are imagined and implemented should be put in relation to the new dynamics that seek to respond to new needs dictated by climate change, economic/pandemic crises and technological innovation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
