SAPIENZA FEMMINILE SINGOLARE. PRIMI RISULTATI DEL CENSIMENTO SU UN SECOLO DI PRESENZA FEMMINILE NELL’ATENEO ROMANO

This paper aims to illustrate the initial results of a census conducted in the Sapienza archives on the presence of women at the Roman University between the late nineteenth and the second half of the twentieth century. The survey examined the files of professors, assistants, and technical-administrative and library staff, as well as the career records and degree examination volumes of students limited to women whose professional careers began or ended at Sapienza. Within the Personnel collection, preserved in the Sapienza Historical Archives, there is currently no distinction between the files of professors, assistants, and technical-administrative and library staff. The files follow a numerical-chronological progression, regardless of the role performed. Therefore, it was necessary to analyze the entire database of files to select those of interest for the research. Currently, the Personnel collection, held in the Historical Archive, consists of approximately 12,000 files, of which approximately 2,000 refer to technical-administrative staff and approximately 10,000 to teaching and assistant staff. The female presence within the archive is estimated to be around 15%.

Il contributo si propone di illustrare i primi risultati di un censimento effettuato negli archivi della Sapienza sulla presenza femminile nell’Ateneo romano tra la fine dell’Ottocento e la seconda metà del Novecento. L’indagine ha riguardato i fascicoli relativi a docenti, assistenti e personale tecnico-amministrativo e bibliotecario, e i registri delle carriere e i volumi degli esami di laurea degli studenti limitatamente alle donne la cui carriera lavorativa ha avuto come punto di passaggio o di arrivo la Sapienza. All’interno del fondo del Personale, conservato nell’Archivio storico della Sapienza, attualmente non c’è distinzione tra i fascicoli di docenti, assistenti e personale tecnico-amministrativo e bibliotecario, i fascicoli si susseguono secondo una progressione numerico-cronologica, a prescindere dalla mansione svolta, per questo è stato necessario analizzare l’intero database dei fascicoli per estrapolare quelli di interesse per la ricerca. Attualmente il fondo del Personale, versato in Archivio storico, è composto da circa 12.000 fascicoli, di cui 2.000 circa riferibili al personale tecnico-amministrativo e 10.000 circa relativi al personale docente e assistente, la presenza femminile all’interno dell’archivio è attestabile intorno al 15%.
