This study explores the evolution of urban morphology in Chongqing’s central district over the past century, analyzing the factors that have shaped its development, with a particular emphasis on the influence of political dynamics. By employing collage techniques, the research aims to uncover the intricate urban morphological landscape of Chongqing’s core area and utilizes montage methods to envision potential future scenarios. Moreover, in the author’s study of urban research and design history in Italy, the collage technique reflected in Aldo Rossi’s The Analogous City and the collage methods presented by Colin Rowe in the Roma Interrotta exhibition both illustrate the two modernist masters’ exploration of urban interpretation. Therefore, this study also attempts to apply collage and montage techniques in the renewal design of selected core areas in Chongqing. At last, author attempt to provide a vocabulary base for developing collage-based urban design guidelines, and creates a perceptual interface for translating the “Italian experience” into localized urban design.

Abstract
At last, author attempt to provide a vocabulary base for developing collage-based urban design guidelines, and creates a perceptual interface for translating the “Italian experience” into localized urban design.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
