As is well known, BIM is a digital information system consisting of the three-dimensional model of a building integrated with the physical, performance and functional data. One potential of BIM lies in representing, in general, certain building components and their dimensional characteristics; less resolved to date is the application of this system for the description and restoration of historic architecture. The GIS platform of the MiC's Cultural Heritage Risk Map, accessible online, makes it possible to record information about cultural property, assess its risk of loss, and guide, under ordinary conditions, the planning of preventive interventions. Risk is calculated as a function of spatial hazard and vulnerability of the built environment. The first indicator is extrapolated from thematic cartographies and the results of statistical and environmental surveys, acquired the portals of different agencies. Vulnerability, on the other hand, expresses the susceptibility of buildings to being damaged and is therefore conditioned by the state of preservation of the buildings; the comparison of statistically calculated indices on the basis of numerous parameters makes it possible to establish operational priorities and to plan monitoring and emergency response activities. A perspective aimed at making the two systems BIM and GIS interoperable would seem to be able to be outlined by reasoning about the potential of 'exchanging' parameters and/or appropriately selected algorithmic formulas, with a view to optimizing the purposes of each system and implementing operational developments useful for the knowledge and restoration project of historic architecture.

Abstract
A perspective aimed at making the two systems BIM and GIS interoperable would seem to be able to be outlined by reasoning about the potential of 'exchanging' parameters and/or appropriately selected algorithmic formulas, with a view to optimizing the purposes of each system and implementing operational developments useful for the knowledge and restoration project of historic architecture.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
