Abstract

Data sharing between BIM and GIS systems represents an interesting research perspective, aimed at connecting information referred to different scales, useful for planning, architectural design and construction management. However, experiences concluded so far highlighted the difficulty of relating native formats and open standards; at an operational level, software integration still presents clear problems, because the export of geometric entities and data assigned to them requires several intermediate steps or involves a substantial loss of information. Studies on integrated digital systems for conservation of historical architecture are mostly related to a single building and often oriented to use existing interchange platforms for data transfer; the experience on area of Lungara, in Rome, focus on construction of a BIM model interoperable with forms of Risk Map through the informatic ontologies. The first phase of work aims at recording in Revit projects the information of Urban Units forms and checking the data that, vice versa, can be imported into SIT from the three-dimensional model. This application raises methodological and operational issues, highlighting the complexity of creating interoperable systems useful for protection and conservation of historical centers.
