Thanks to the remarkable focusing, limiteddiffraction, and self-healing features, the generation of Bessel beams has recently attracted renewed interest for various applications in different frequency regions. In particular, the exploitation of the versatile leaky-wave paradigm has allowed us to characterize and design simple yet effective Bessel-beam launchers in planar technology, for focusing applications ranging from microwaves to submillimeter waves. This contribution aims to outline the working principles and design rules, while also showing the practical potential of such radiators.
