Only in recent years has the Collectio Avellana become an independent object of research, thanks mainly to the impulse of Rita Lizzi Testa, who catalysed the energies of late antique scholars in the national and international panorama. She initiated a series of activities dedicated to it, including the conference from which this volume originated. These initiatives have contributed to a better understanding of the contexts of production of these collections, as well as the phases and key figures involved in the processes of transmission and transcription of the documents that came into them, thus highlighting, through the investigation of the physiognomy of the compiler of Avellana, the complexity of the papal and imperial archives.

Abstract
Only in recent years has the Collectio Avellana become an independent object of research, thanks mainly to the impulse of Rita Lizzi Testa, who catalysed the energies of late antique scholars in the national and international panorama. She initiated a series of activities dedicated to it, including the conference from which this volume originated. These initiatives have contributed to a better understanding of the contexts of production of these collections, as well as the phases and key figures involved in the processes of transmission and transcription of the documents that came into them, thus highlighting, through the investigation of the physiognomy of the compiler of Avellana, the complexity of the papal and imperial archives.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
