‘From Disaster to Rebirth’ constitutes a research endeavor comprising a collection of perceptions, analyses, and interpretations that delineate novel strategies for urban regeneration within the territory of Velletri. This undertaking aims to (re)discover the city prior to the wartime bombardments of the Second World War. Departing from the resultant rubble to cultivate processes of urban regeneration, the debris is, in fact, viewed as potent symbols of the globalized world and unsettling representations of modern times, reminding us of the transience of all things and prompting a reflection on human responsibility. Given that the contemporary epoch is characterized by complexity, memory and knowledge of our past become indispensable instruments for the comprehension of our society. This is inevitably reflected in urban stratifications, which represent a clear physical manifestation of the material and immaterial actions of humankind upon the territory.
