This study presents a new approach to the classification of lyrical genres of the medieval novel, exploiting the potential of digital humanities. Through compu- tational analysis of the Prosopographical Atlas of Romance Literature, combining geographical and historical data, we have created interactive maps that visualize the spatial and temporal distribution of different genres. To structure and enrich the data, we used the CIDOC-CRM ontology, an international standard for describing cultural heritage. This visual and semantic representation allowed us to identify hidden patterns and refine traditional, often static and overly rigid categories. The result is a more dynamic and flexible classification model that considers both the in- trinsic characteristics of texts and their historical and cultural context. By integrat- ing quantitative and qualitative tools, the study offers a more nuanced and dynamic view of medieval lyric production, filling a gap in existing research and opening new perspectives for studies of medieval romance literary genres.

Abstract
By integrat- ing quantitative and qualitative tools, the study offers a more nuanced and dynamic view of medieval lyric production, filling a gap in existing research and opening new perspectives for studies of medieval romance literary genres.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
